Posing, Expression, and Story

The most common thing people say during their session is that they don't know how to pose. Never fear! I will help guide you through poses and expressions to make you feel comfortable in front of the camera.

Story is important for headshots. You want your photos to be a snapshot of who you are as a performer and person. Wardrobe and posing definitely help but the main thing you need to do is come as you are and try to stay present.  Don't feel like you have to play the part of a performer.

Wardrobe

During your session we will be working with one or three looks. Bringing multiple clothing choices for each look can help us find what looks best on camera day of. For example, if you want a dramatic look, bring two or three shirts that will achieve that. On the day, we will choose one of the shirts you brought, and that will be what you wear for that look. Continuing this on for look two and three for Headshot Package A. Layers such as jackets or glasses will not count towards another look. Your wardrobe can be anything that makes you feel comfortable, confident, and that you feel represents you. There's no need to go out and buy clothing for your headshots.​

Hair and Makeup

If you would like to work with a Hair and Makeup Artist please note it on your form. This will be an additional charge to your session total, going directly to the artist. I do not currently have an estimate on how much this would be.

If you would like to do your own hair and makeup please come with your first look completed. If you are doing Headshot Package A, you can change your makeup during the session to achieve another look. My only recommendation for hair and makeup is to bring some hair tools to keep your hair looking fresh throughout the session and to bring face powder to combat shine. ​​​

Backdrops

The main backdrops I use are hand painted canvas. I have an array of colors to choose from. I also have white and black paper rolls. I like to use multiple backdrop colors per look so that clients have an array of options to choose from.

Editing and Retouching

Your entire gallery of photos will be edited and ready for professional use. Editing includes a general color-correcting and cropping.

My philosophy is to keep retouching realistic. If something will be there in two weeks there is no need to remove it. Skin texture and lines are a part of you and what makes you unique. With that in mind, I will not edit fine lines or remove wrinkles. My retouches remove stray hairs and blemishes with a soft skin smoothing and shine reduction.

Turn around time

You will receive your gallery within two weeks of your session through a digital link and library. The gallery is all of the photos taken during our session (minus any photos that are blurry, caught you mid-blink, ect.). You will be able to download all photos at full resolution. The gallery will expire three months from your session date. After selecting the photos that you would like edited and filling out the edit form, you will receive your final photos within another two week period.

Photo Use

I own the right to all photos taken during the session and may use the photos for my portfolio or to promote my business. However you are welcome to use your photos in any way you please: posting them, editing them, ect.

Timeliness

Please make sure to arrive to your session on time, leaving plenty of time for traffic and navigating to my studio. Keep in mind arriving late will cut into your session time and in most cases I will not be able to extend your session to accommodate for late arrival.

Bringing a friend

Clients are welcome and encouraged to bring someone to accompany their session. 

​

Minors

Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the entirety of their session.

Payment

Payment is required in full at the end of your session. I accept Zelle, Venmo, and Cash. I require a $50 non-refundable deposit to confirm your session time. This deposit will be applied to the total cost of the package.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy 

I understand life happens. If you need to reschedule your session please let me know as soon as possible and we will find a new date that works. Please keep in mind when you schedule your session, your deposit is non-refundable. I do not want to waste your time, nor do I want to waste my own- so please make sure you are ready to commit to your session time as if you cancel your session your deposit will not be refunded.​​

Booking

Please fill out the intake form under the Packages and Booking tab thoroughly. You will be contacted through email to set up a time for your session after I receive your form.
